Benchmarking Reports Due. With little more than four weeks to go before the reporting deadline of June 30th, it is important to submit your benchmarking reports as soon as possible. The closer we get to the deadline, the more backed up the City & County of Honolulu (C&C), utilities, and third-party service providers will be. Only 25% of buildings have filed benchmarking reports so far this year leaving over 1,000 buildings that have yet to file.

That is a lot of buildings requesting utilities bills, asking the county questions on compliance, and reaching out to Hong Consulting to prepare and submit their benchmarking reports. We appreciate your patience as we work through this busy season. Should you have any questions about where your benchmarking report is in the process, please reach out to me.

Loan Amortization. If you are in the process of securing a new loan for your AOAO, Hong Consulting would be happy to help draft loan pre-payment amounts and loan amortization schedules. Our accounting expertise makes us a good fit for this type of work. Using us also means that you don’t have to start your bookkeeping from scratch if a property manager leaves your association. You will be able to have access to the data no matter what happens with the property manager at an AOAO. If this service is of interest to you, please email us at adrianhong@hongconsultingllc.com.

Transparency Map. If you haven’t checked out C&C’s Transparency Map, you really should. It provides the site EUI and water use intensity for all the buildings that have filed. C&C defines site energy use Intensity as kBtu/square foot and water use intensity as gallons/square foot. The map shows which buildings are compliant and which buildings have not yet submitted their benchmarking reports. It also shows the percentage of buildings that have filed in the year. It is a great tool that allows you to compare your building’s metrics with those of its peers and neighbors. The following link will take you to the Transparency Map: https://maps.touchstoneiq.com/honolulu/
